The creation of the White House Ginger Bread House is both an engineering feat and baking marvel. White House Pastry Chef Bill Yosses has created an amazing confection. The cake weighs 350 pounds and is made of gingerbread covered in white chocolate. The house features cutouts that show the East Room and State Dining Room. Like last year, Bo the family dog is shown as well as Mrs. Obama’s fruit and vegetable garden. The cake actually used some “local” ingredients – 30 pounds of White House honey!
This year’s White House holiday decorating theme is Simple Gifts. According to the White House “It is a celebration of friends and family, hearth and home, and the simple things that bring joy at Christmas”.
