We are happy to share the first in a series of blog post chronicling the construction of our first evo Home. In this series of photographs you can see the prefabricated concrete insulated panels being installed by Superior Walls. These panels form the foundation of the home and they are critical to the home’s energy efficiency. In fact, this finished home will be 60% more energy efficient than an energy star home due to the tightness of the envelope and insulation values.
Homeowners often ask “Doesn’t a home have to breathe?” The answer is yes but do you want it to “breathe” to lose heat through cracks and gaps around windows and doors? The answer to that is no! So this home has been designed to mechanically breathe using an energy recovery system (ERV) that recaptures energy that is ventilating from the home.
Not only are these panels highly efficient there are numerous construction benefits as well. The prefabricated panels save valuable construction time and also minimize construction waste. Minimizing construction waste is just one more way this home is “green”.

Foundation underslab insulation in yellow. The evo Home is insulated under the entire slab with a continuous water barrier whereas code stipulates that it is necessary to insulate just the perimeter.
Stay tuned as we continue to follow this house from foundation to family home.
