Wentworth by the Sea Hotel

Project: Wentworth by the Sea Hotel, New Castle, NH

Industries: Historic Preservation | Hospitality/Country Club

The historic Wentworth By The Sea Hotel achieved another significant milestone in an illustrious 129-year history; reopening on May 14, 2003 after 20 years of neglect and deterioration. Working with only a shell of the original building and the three distinctive turret towers, the architects restored the original foundation, reinforced the precarious wooden structure with a steel skeleton and added two new wings to each side of the existing structure, tripling the floor space from 51,000 square feet to over 151,000 square feet. Rescued from the National Historic Landmark's list of the most endangered historical buildings.
