We discussed earlier this month that not many children say they want to be architects when they grow up. But if Architect Barbie doesn’t encourage more kids to look into the profession, maybe this statistic will: Architects made the list of the top-10 happiest professionals, in fact ranking No. 4.
We recently spotted this Freshome article citing a national job satisfaction study and found it really interesting. Being able to solve challenges and think creatively contribute to the gratification that comes from the job. Add to that the satisfaction of “designing buildings that meet or exceed the functional, aesthetic and budgetary needs of our clients,” like we do at TMS Architects, and we can definitely see why the career choice is so rewarding.
But by now you’re probably wondering who topped the list and came in above architects as the happiest people with their jobs. The order was clergy, fire fighters, travel agents, then architects. We’re just happy to be in the top five.
