Making Decisions with your Architect

December 14, 2010 By Leave a Comment

When you are working on a construction project there are many decisions that need to be made. Often these important decisions can have an impact on the schedule of the project and the budget. Therefore, it is important to establish a clear method for decision making and communication with both your architect and builder. Having a clear understanding of the decision making process will keep the project moving ahead smoothly and keep the budget in check.

According to the American Institute of Architects, here are some important questions to discuss with your architect:

  1. Who makes what decisions?
  2. What information do the decision makers require?
  3. How much time should be allowed for review of submissions?
  4. How are conflicts resolved?
