The Latest Green Building Innovations

Jetson Green is a website targeted to sustainable building and technology. It’s a great source for keeping up with the latest green building news and technologies. They recently choose their twenty favorite green building innovations of 2011 and we thought we share some of our favorites.

 

The ubiquitous wooden pallet takes on a new life as flooring. Arctic Plank creates beautiful parquet style flooring from wood upcycled from pallets. Re-using this material keeps it out of the landfill or fireplace. The irregularities of the wood actually results in flooring with an organic feel.

Belkin has created a smart solution for dealing with electricity “vampires”. The Belkin switch allows you to completely turn off the power to appliances or phone chargers.

Isn’t maddening when you see automatic sprinklers watering lawns in the rain? Cyber Rain allows you to control your home’s sprinkler system even when you’re not there. In addition, Cyber-Rain will check weather forecasts and automatically adjusts watering based on that information. Clever.

 

 

Finally a LED light that looks light a standard light bulb and gives off a desirable warm light. Once this bulb from Panasonic is officially on the market we won’t have an excuses for sticking with incandescents.
